Why Does Walnut PONY Hold Fundraisers?

We understand that families already invest significantly through player registration. So it’s fair to ask, why fundraisers?

Where Registration Fees Go

Player registration primarily covers the essential costs required to operate each season, including:

• Player uniforms
• Field usage and maintenance fees
• Team pictures
• Umpires and scorekeepers
• Insurance
• Equipment (baseballs, bases, paint, tools, catcher’s gear, etc.)
• Background checks

These operational expenses continue to rise each year. Rather than consistently increasing registration fees to keep pace, our goal is to offset some of those increases through community fundraising events.

What Will Fundraising Support?

Fundraising allows us to go beyond basic operations and invest in the quality and future of our league.

1. Building Baseball Inventory

A primary focus of current fundraising efforts is the purchase of additional baseballs to:

• Finish Spring and All-Star seasons with a strong supply
• Build inventory for Fall 2026 and Spring 2027
• Avoid seasonal shortages
• Purchase in bulk to reduce long-term costs

Planning ahead helps us control expenses and stay ahead of rising prices.

2. Enhancing the Player & Coach Experience

With successful fundraising, we are exploring opportunities to:

• Provide baseballs to all coaches beginning Spring 2027
• Purchase batting nets to improve practice efficiency
• Outfit every Spring 2027 coaching staff with Walnut PONY dry-fit shirts and team hats
• Cover 2026 All-Star coaches uniforms (which PONY require they wear)

These investments strengthen our league’s identity and provide practical resources that directly benefit our players.

This isn’t just about equipment, it’s about elevating the overall Walnut PONY experience for years to come.
